Home Economics at Key Stage 3 is part of Learning for Life and Work. In Years 8, 9 and 10 pupils get the opportunity to examine key concepts in relation to healthy eating, home and family life and independent living.

YEAR 8
Units of Work include; Safety and Hygiene; Use of equipment; Meal planning and preparation using the Eatwell plate guidelines; Family life and Seasonal cooking.

YEAR 9
Units of Work include; Nutrients, Meal planning and preparation using the Eatwell plate guidelines; Ethical Shopping; Food Safety and Seasonal cooking.

YEAR 10
Units of Work include; Meal planning and preparation using the Eatwell plate guidelines; Needs of Pregnant Mother, Baby, Toddler, Adolescent, Adult and the Elderly; Special Diets e.g. vegetarian; Consumer Awareness and Seasonal Cooking.
